Aire Valley Leeds - Strategic Vision
"The Aire Valley - the Window to Leeds, strengthening and delivering, through partnership, the City's role as regional capital by diversifying its economic base and offering innovative opportunities for living, working and recreation, bringing maximum benefit to local residents and the City of Leeds as a whole."
The Vision – “Headlines”
Aire Valley Leeds will become a key economic driver for the city and the region, and a new sustainable community.
Brownfield land will be reclaimed and redeveloped.
The filter beds will be largely replaced.
The environment will be renewed through investment in the open space network, landscape treatment and quality design.
The river/canal corridor will be re-invigorated through investment and new, sensitive, development.
The area will be reconnected with surrounding communities.
The Vision – “Outcomes”
We aim to
regenerate 1,000 hectares of the city.
develop 400 hectares of land.
reclaim 180 hectares of brownfield land.
By developing
the East Leeds Link Road.
up to 1,000,000 sqm of new employment space.
approximately 7,000 new homes.
a new vehicle bridge over the River Aire.
up to 27,000 new jobs.
To achieve the Vision
To achieve the Vision we will put in place
a physical and urban design framework within which development can take place.
a fully integrated access plan and a transport strategy.
a clear policy on structured and complementary land uses and areas of development potential which will include strategies for linking local people with employment opportunities.
